Stories and Sips on The Whiskey Crossing

Join Barry Chandler aboard Stena Line on Saturday 29 August for The Whiskey Crossing, an Irish whiskey experience at sea that brings together storytelling, history, and exceptional whiskey tasting on the journey from Dublin to Holyhead.          

As the Irish Sea carries you between Ireland and Wales, Barry will guide guests through a selection of Irish whiskeys connected to ships, maritime trade, emigration, ocean travel, and the sea routes that helped Irish whiskey reach audiences around the world.

Guests will hear the story of the S.S. Bushmills steamship, discover how sherry casks transported by sea helped shape iconic whiskeys like Redbreast, and enjoy exclusive pours alongside lively storytelling throughout the crossing.

The experience also includes the opportunity to explore and purchase featured whiskeys from the onboard duty-free collection.

Barry Chandler is a self-professed whiskey evangelist and enthusiast for all things Irish whiskey related.

A native of Cork, Ireland, Barry is the world’s most awarded Irish whiskey communicator, awarded the titles of Global Icon of Whisky by Whiskey Magazine in 2024 and Whisky Communicator of the Year 2021, 2023, 2024 and 2026.

He has built a global community of more than 100,000 Irish whiskey fans and a host of Irish whiskey businesses designed to bring whiskey fans closer to the people, places and pours of their beloved spirit and provide whiskey brands with an engaged community to tell their story.

Barry has released 16 Irish whiskeys since 2021 through exclusive collaborations with distilleries and brands, one of which was awarded the title of Best Irish Single Malt whiskey in its category in 2024.

He is the founder of Stories & Sips, a U.S.-based Irish whiskey club, co-founder of Irish Whiskey Experiences, a luxury Irish whiskey travel company and the owner of Three Drams, Ireland’s monthly whiskey subscription service.

Barry began his interest in Irish Whiskey in 2016 by hosting a whiskey tasting while fundraising for a local hospital in Ohio and since 2016 has raised more than $250,000 for cancer research and end of life care for the homeless.
