ISSUED ON BEHALF OF STENA LINE 10 June, 2010 STENA LINE LANDBRIDGE BOOKINGS AND CUSTOMERS SAVINGS ON THE UP Stena Line bookings up 10% and customers save over €1500* IRELAND’S leading ferry company Stena Line has experienced a 10% increase in its Landbridge bookings to Europe this summer. This figure comes as no surprise, given the fact customers can save over €1500* compared to people that choose air.
In a price comparison carried out by Stena Line for a family of four going on holiday to Bordeaux, customers can travel from Dublin Port to Holyhead, onward from Dover to Calais from only €552* with no baggage restrictions or excess charges, compared to €1520.24 charged by a major airline from Dublin to Bordeaux with an additional €120* baggage charges for luggage. Further savings can be made by customers travelling by ferry as they will have no airport parking, check-in charges or car hire. **
Stena Line Communications Manager, Eamonn Hewitt, believes the ferry company’s Landbridge fare is a great way to have a stress free holiday by avoiding potential ash cloud disruption at a great price.
“People work long and hard and look forward to their summer holidays, and with the current economic climate and possible disruptions caused by the volcanic ash, travelling by ferry is a great solution for a stress free holiday. In the recent price comparison we carried out, customers can take advantage of savings of over €1500* over people who fly.
“By taking the car customers can bring all the luggage they need for their summer vacation and won’t have to worry about any additional charges involved with flying such as baggage charges, check-in charges, airport parking and car hire.
“Taking the ferry also means you won’t have to wait around the airport for two hours before your flight as you only need to be at the ferry terminal 30 minutes before departure ensuring customers don’t have airport stress with children to entertain.
“The fun starts as soon as customers step onboard,” says Eamonn, “younger children will be kept entertained in the soft play adventure areas and may even bump into regular Stena Line passenger Curious George, whilst older children can watch the latest film release in the cinema and not to be left out, adults can relax in one of our fantastic restaurants or bars. Once arriving in Britain you can stop at attractions along the way such as Legoland or Alton Towers or perhaps visit friends or relatives in Britain, making the journey an exciting part of the holiday.”
With Stena Line’s wide route network, customers can choose to travel from Dublin Port to Holyhead, Dun Laoghaire to Holyhead, Rosslare to Fishguard, Belfast to Stranraer, Larne to Fleetwood and onward to France, Germany ,Holland, Spain and Denmark.
